The Department of Chemistry offers a particular thematical width that goes far beyond the classical core disciplines of Chemistry, namely: Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Physical as well as Theoretical Chemistry.
In this way, within the University, new links to other faculties develop that allow to tackle innovative interdisciplinary challenges (e.g. TUM Catalysis Research Center, TUM Research Center for Industrial Biotechnology and TUM Science Center for Electromobility).
Examples for the wide thematic choice within Research and Teaching are Chemical Technology, Construction Chemistry, Radiopharmacy, Food and Water Chemistry.
Additionally, the Department offers state-of-the-art analysis techniques that are bundled in centers like the Bavarian center for NMR-Spectroscopy or the Institute for Electron Microscopy.
